Kin Selection

Kin Selection is one of those neat things about biology where you can look at a problem that makes absolutely no sense and it just resolves itself in an instant when you look at it again with fresh perspective. I remember learning about bees and wondering why all the workers were giving up their chance at doin’ the nasty until I learned that their genetics are funky in a way that makes them more related to their siblings than they would be to their own kids! Or something. In other words, be nice to bees because they are jam-packed with genes and will spray them all over you if you are mean.
