I spent New Year’s Weekend trying to get a new video card to play nicely with the rest of my homegrown system. Turns out that you can’t run two slightly different cards from the same manufacturer in the same box without crashing your computer. Huh!
Of course, if you buy a second identical video card you can eliminate the instability. But then you’re not getting the most out of your purchase unless you buy a new motherboard with support for your new expensive video cards (which you couldn’t really afford in the first place). The new motherboard, in turn, requires the purchase of a new CPU and RAM to maintain compatibility with the new sockets and other related assfuckery.
So that’s why today’s comic was drawn on an abacus. Next I am going to figure out which beads I need to slide around to get YouTube working.
